Productive weekend

I was in CA until Thursday and was pretty excited to get home after being gone for a week. My meeting ended early in LA so I decided to try and get on an earlier flight. Sadly, my wishful thinking didn't happen and we were delayed for 4.5 hours (3.5 was stuck sitting at the gate) and I didn't end up getting home until 4am. The flight I was originally on was also delayed due to air traffic control in NYC, so I ended up getting home two hours earlier, but still basically took a red eye, which was pretty miserable. I had a full day at the office on Friday, so I was pretty exhausted by the end of the day. I picked up pizza for us on my way home from work and we enjoyed the 80 degree weather and lounged on our roof for the first time this year! On Saturday, we each went to our respective workout classes and then did errands and a bunch of things around our apartment. We then met my brother and his friend for an early dinner at one of my favorite Greek restaurants, Souvlaki, and enjoyed quite a feast!
 Everything was so delicious!
And then this morning, we headed to my coworker/friend's house in Brooklyn to meet their new baby (3 weeks old!) and help get their rooftop garden set up for the summer. Zach has created quite the rooftop veggie garden and this year, with two little ones at home, he called in for back-up. So we spent about 1.5 hours on the roof and prepped all of the buckets for planting. We learned how to build this kind of system and are going to try it out ourselves in Maine over Memorial Day.
We dumped the soil out and added compost.
Cleaned all of the buckets and then re-lined them with landscaping paper before filling them with soil, lime, and fertilizer.
And then we covered the tops of all the buckets with a garbage bag and sealed them with heavy duty tape.
It was a neat process and fun to be outside!
