This is a really nutty time with our annual developer conference, wrapping up school pilots, and not to mention maternity leave looming not to far in the distance. Tyler has also been swamped at work, but we decided a few months ago that we were going to go on a little vacation in the midst of the madness. And despite the chaos at work, it was the best little vacation. We slept a ton, managed to get some reading in, did a couple of OrangeTheory workouts, lounged, and got all of the work we needed to get done before heading back on red eyes tonight.
Our trip to Hawaii was eventful and because of a mechanical problem with the inbound flight, we weren't able to leave on Tuesday night as planned :( I had a school visit Wednesday morning in Hawaii that I unfortunately missed because of the delay. We managed to get the next flight out Wednesday morning and met up with my team to catch up on the visit and take care of shipping all of our hardware back for our developer conference. We then proceeded to head to our hotel, The Royal Hawaiian, and took some calls before heading to dinner at Hula Grill next door to our hotel. On Thursday, we managed to workout at the local OrangeTheory, take a few calls for work, relax on the beach, and then got 90 minute massages before heading to dinner at Roy's! I had spent some time researching prenatal massages and Red Earth Massage got great reviews and offered 15% off your first visit. We definitely recommend this place and it was a really easy walk to and from the spa. On Friday, we got up early for breakfast and then headed to Hanauma Bay for a morning of snorkeling. We were there for a few hours and got to see so many gorgeous varieties of fish! We spent the afternoon floating in the ocean in the $3 inter-tubes we bought and then grabbed dinner at The Chart House (one of our favorite places we use to go with Tyler's Uncles when we was at UCLA). And our last day, we woke up and headed to another OrangeTheory class and spent the day relaxing by the pool and floating in the ocean. We attempted to go to a local spot for dinner, but they were closed for a private party. So, we decided to give the local diner a try, which was recommended by our snorkeling guide; it was actually really good and we had a great time! We managed to grab some Dairy Queen on our walk back and saw an impromptu fire works show. Today, was spent relaxing by the pool, watching the Warriors play, and then packing up to leave. We had such a great time and are so happy we came despite the chaos :)
