Bar Harbor

As I mentioned in the previous post, we headed up to Bar Harbor, which is three hours north of Portland, for a few days over Memorial Weekend. We've always wanted to hike in Acadia National Park, so I organized a weekend getaway as a present for Tyler for his birthday in March. We drove up Friday morning and drove straight to the park where we hiked Gorham Mountain Trail and Beehive Mountain. It poured the whole drive, but miraculously stopped when we pulled into the parking lot!

After hiking for a few hours, we checked into our adorable bed and breakfast, Holbrook House, and enjoyed their afternoon tea spread before taking a nap.

We then walked into town and enjoyed a delicious meal at the Reading Room overlooking the harbor before grabbing blueberry ice cream at Ben and Bill's.

On Saturday, we woke up early and had a delicious stuffed french toast breakfast before heading out to hike Cadillac Mountain. It was a seven mile roundtrip hike and the weather could not be more perfect. The first mile of the hike is in the forest and then you hike along the ridge line and just get the most spectacular views!

I loved the carton of water :)

After our hike, we headed into town for lunch and then came back to the bed and breakfast to relax. We enjoyed the afternoon tea and then took naps before grabbing a bottle of wine and sitting on that charming front porch. We then headed to West Street Cafe for dinner and had the best seafood dinner....I am a sucker for fried clams and broiled scallops and these were so delicious! We concluded our night with a walk along the water and then headed to a local bar to watch the Warriors play with the townies!

This month at work, it's our annual month of service and I'm on the volunteer committee so I've been trying to sign up for different projects. One of my coworkers was participating in a project where you knit at least one hat for a child with cancer for Knots for Love.  So, I used the car rides to knit a few hats, which made the drive go a lot quicker.

On Sunday, we woke up early and enjoyed another tasty breakfast before getting on the road early. We had a few errands to run at home before we had some friends and my aunt and uncle over for dinner. We had an absolute blast in Maine and  and definitely recommend Bar Harbor if you have a little extra time in Portland!
