Our hospital stay

It's hard to believe the girls are already 3 weeks old...it feels like the time has just flown by and now I'm playing catch up! As I mentioned in the previous post introducing the girls, we didn't get a private room in the hospital our first night, but did get one for our second and third night and boy what a difference it made! For starters, I got to control the temperature in the room :) and there was plenty of space to sit, a pull out couch for Tyler, a large sink with plenty of counter space, and a fridge. it was also right across from the showers, which was luxurious - it's the small things! The best part about our private room was that Logan could come and meet his sisters. It had felt like an eternity since I had seen my little guy and it was such a treat for Sharnel to bring him to the hospital to visit us. Logan was absolutely adorable with both girls and couldn't believe there were two of them. We introduced him to his sisters and he came up with their nicknames that I think will stick for life - Daney (for Delaney), and Pay-Pay (for Payton). Logan is one proud big brother!

The other big thing that made a difference in our stay was our Yeti cooler. This bad boy keeps everything cold up to three days and that's certainly what it did. After having read a few articles on how to prep for a c-section, I made sure I had a bunch of healthy snacks on hand to help my system get back on track and then some treats. I packed smoothies, protein balls, dried mango from Trader Joe's, apples, cheese/prosciutto, hummus, carrots, and honey twisted pretzels. I also packed napkins, plastic knives, and solo cups for cocktails...yes, all I wanted was my French Martini! We pretty much ate everything (the food was okay but they certainly didn't give you much) and came home with an empty cooler. I updated my hospital checklist with everything from my stay with Logan as well as the girls in case it's useful.

A nurse walked in while I looked like this after my first night and just started cracking up....yes I looked ridiculous, but that face mask felt heavenly!

The girls with our OB who delivered them!

All of the nurses were so wonderful and took really good care of us. They were super responsive whenever we had a question or needed something and it made leaving hard! We were discharged early Friday afternoon and headed home in an Uber XL with our precious cargo. At home, my mom, Sharnel, and Logan greeted us and we started our adventure of 5 people living in a one bedroom in NYC ;)
