Honeymoon Day One: First Stop Positano

After waiting one year, we finally managed to take our honeymoon! We both have been looking forward to this trip for quite some time and couldn’t wait for our plane to take off from JFK. We left on Friday afternoon and arrived at Frankfurt at 5:30am. Our flight to Naples wasn’t until 10:30am so we walked around the airport, grabbed breakfast, and took a little nap. Surprisingly, the time went by quickly! Our flight to Naples was only 1.5 hours and before we knew it, we were waiting for our bags to come onto the carrousel in baggage claim. I was extremely nervous our bags wouldn’t make it as my mom has lost her luggage a few times in Italy and Greece. Per her recommendation, we took a carry on bag packed with a few days of our clothes and shared one big suitcase, which we checked. Thankfully, the bag arrived!

We walked out of the terminal and were greeted by our driver, Salvatore, whom I had found via Trip Advisor. You can get to Positano from Naples by bus or car; however, it’s highly recommended to arrange for a car service; you are just too tired when you arrive to deal with the confusion of the bus. Salvatore was fantastic and gave us a tour and all of the history as we passed through the beautiful seaside towns along the way to Positano.

At one point, he made us get out of the car to take a picture and see the impressive cliffs and emerald water. We arrived to the Marincanto Hotel, which is situated at the top of Positano in a perfect location. The hotel is beautiful with panoramic views of the ocean. The staff is amazing and ensured we had the best room in the hotel to celebrate our honeymoon. Our room is absolutely spectacular with the most amazing patio, outdoor shower, and views of the ocean!

After unpacking, we took a quick nap before heading down to the beach to take our first dip in the sea. The beaches are very rocky and the water is extremely salty….not to mention, we had to walk down 290 steps from our hotel to get there….Yes, I counted! We took our quick dip, got ready for dinner, and headed out to a spot called Bruno’s, which was recommended by our driver. We sat on the sidewalk overlooking Positano and enjoyed our first Italian meal. It was the perfect meal to start our honeymoon!
