Kendall Visits NYC

We had another great weekend and were quite active! Tyler's older sister, Kendall, came for the weekend and we had a blast touring the city and catching up with her. We hadn't seen Kendall since our wedding, which seems like so long ago. She flew in Friday night and we had dinner at our apartment and spent the evening chatting :)

Saturday, we woke up early, enjoyed a cup of coffee and got ready to head down to SOHO for brunch. We had brunch reservations at Balthazar and met my friends, Jacqui and Kara there. Jacqui, Kara, and I had wanted to try Balthazar for some time, so we thought it would be a fun brunch spot for when Kendall visited. Boy was this the best brunch ever! I think we all highly recommend getting the basket of breads and pastries as an appetizer. It was some of the best pastries I have ever had! The food was sooooo good...Here are a few pics of our meal.

After a delicious brunch, Kendall, Tyler, and I headed to Ground Zero to try and see the reflection pools. It was a gorgeous day out and it seemed that everyone else had the same idea as us. We attempted to get tickets to the 9/11 Memorial; however, it was a 4 hour wait. So, we decided to head to the Brooklyn Bridge instead. I did manage to get a few pictures of the new World Trade Center.

From the World Trade Center, we headed to the Brooklyn Bridge and to walk over it. The weather could not have been more perfect; it was crystal clear, relatively warm, and absolutely beautiful!

After a great walk, we took the subway back from Brooklyn...It was probably the longest subway ride ever! There was a lot of construction and it took forever. We ended up having to switch trains at 72nd Street; while waiting for the local train, we decided to head to the movies to see Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. Definitely a tearjerker, but the movie was so good and highly recommend it. From the movies, we took advantage of the nice evening weather and walked up to a little Mexican restaurant near our place. We enjoyed margaritas and burritos before heading home for the night.

Sunday, we woke up and lounged around our apartment, enjoyed a cup of coffee and used the waflle maker Kendall and Graham gave us for our wedding :) We then got ourselves organized and headed up to campus to show Kendall around. From campus, we walked through Central Park, cut across at 86th and then headed up Riverside Park.
It was a really nice walk on another gorgeous day. Our long walk help us to build up an appetite for lunch at a little diner by our apartment. We had one last meal with Kendall before she had to head to the airport. Thanks Kendall for coming to visit us! We had such a blast with you :)
