Activities in Cuba

This post is LONG overdue as our trip to Cuba was almost one month ago. I really don't know where the time goes :) At any rate, I've now filled you in on the food and the cars of Cuba, so I figured I'd share the activities we did in Cuba....we pretty much just walked around and enjoyed lots of great meals! Here's a quick recap of what we did:
We walked, and walked, and walked. It was so much fun exploring streets like the one above.
We went to the Cigar Factory where the guys bought cigars. Unfortunately, it was closed for the holidays so we didn't get to actually see the cigars being made, but it was still cool.
We enjoyed daiquiris at Floridita and listened to a live band.
I couldn't resist taking a picture of the statue of Hemingway in his "spot" at the bar...it's the spot he'd always sit at when he visited the Floridita.
I ended up taking lots and lots of photos of cars :)
We walked around the Capitol and the side streets.
This was a neat brewery in the Plaza. It wasn't open when we walked through, but it looked good!
We spent a lot of time walking around Old Havana and particularly Plaza Vieja, which has these colorful buildings surrounding the Plaza.
We explored lots of art markets including the one pictured above.
Josh, Tyler, and I all purchased beautiful paintings. Josh had his eyes on one painting in the lobby of the hotel and when he went back for it, someone had purchased it. But, the artist just happened to be there and just started chatting it up. The artist had one more painting and Josh went home with it :) Talk about luck! Above is a picture of Josh and the artist.
I loved looking at all of the canvas paintings :)
We took a coco taxi along the Malecon to get to dinner one night. It was a lot of fun despite inhaling all of the diesel fumes from the cars passing by. As my mother would say, "it's part of the experience!" Josh and I also ran every morning around the Malecon, which was such a nice way to start the morning. It was really peaceful and you got to see all of the fisherman.
We spent a few days at a resort in Varadura and enjoyed the sunshine and beach!
The beach was really gorgeous and the water was warm!
We walked past a decent number of churches, this one probably being the most famous Cathedral.
This was a neat mural painted on a side of a building as we explored Old Havana.
Watching Josh photographing Cuba was entertaining enough!
We had drinks a few times on the roof of of the Iberostar Hotel in the Plaza Central
We listened to lots of music...this was at the Hotel Nacional
We spent a lot of time drinking fun cocktails and the boys enjoyed their cigars!
