Spring Has Sprung

The weather in NYC has been absolutely beautiful over the past week! It definitely is beginning to feel like spring and some of the trees have begun to blossom, which is my favorite! I took this photo while walking through Greenwich Village :)
Tyler and I kicked off the weekend Thursday night with a belated birthday celebration at Strip House. The food hit the spot and was so tasty....As you can see from the picture below, there wasn't a shortage of food ;)
Friday, one of my friends from Maine, Allison, flew in for the weekend and we threw an impromptu dinner party. At 4:30pm on Friday, I hadn't decided what was going to be served for dinner (not like me!) and my coworker saved the day! She gave me this Cavatelli with Sausage and Sage Brown Butter recipe, which looked fabulous. I scooted over to Chelsea Market to Buon Italia, which is a specialty Italian market, to pick up the ingredients for dinner before running home. Everyone came over around 7pm and didn't leave until almost 12:30am! Needless to say, we had plenty of food and wine :)

Saturday, we actually woke up relatively early and hung out before venturing out for a day of shopping. Tyler unfortunately couldn't join us as he had a bunch of school work to complete before his rugby game. So, Allison and I met up with her mom for lunch at a place near our apartment and then headed down to the Highline. We walked down the Highline, through Chelsea Market, around the Meatpacking District, down to Greenwich Village, and over to SoHo. It was so nice out and we both really enjoyed being outside. After our mega shopping day, we headed over to Pier 40 to watch Tyler's rugby game. I'm a terrible wife and hadn't been to one of his games this season. It was really fun to see him play and meet all of the guys. We then headed to a bar nearby for drinks and rugby cheers, which were hilarious!

Sunday, we all managed to sleep in, which was sooo nice! We had our morning coffee and Allison ventured out to the Columbia bookstore while I got some stuff done for work. We then headed to lunch and shopping on 5th Ave; however, our shopping trip was rudely interrupted by Delta calling to inform Allison that her flight had been cancelled. We managed to get a hold of a Delta representative and re-booked her on an early flight out. Long story short, we only got to shop for 45 minutes and couldn't go out to our dinner at Tao :( Despite the way it ended, we had such a wonderful time with Allison and really enjoyed the weekend!
