Easter weekend with my mother goose

This weekend was such a treat as my mom flew in for the long weekend to spend Easter with us, help me organize our apartment for the baby, and be in town for my NYC baby shower (hosted by Kara, Jacqui, and my mother goose). On Friday, we met my brother for lunch and then did a ton of walking and errands before heading to get facials. We then met the boys for pizza at Arturo's and had a really fun dinner listening to the live Jazz music. On Saturday, we grabbed coffee and headed to the farmer's market and did some grocery shopping for Easter before heading to brunch. Tyler then headed to a friend's place to watch NBA basketball and my mom and I spent the afternoon re-organizing our entire room, including organizing Tyler's whole closet (we'll see how long it stays organized!). On Sunday, we hosted Easter brunch at our house with some of my family and a few of Josh's friends. It was really nice and fun to have everyone over. And then on Monday, my mother goose came with me to my doctor's appointment and got to see our little guy who seems to be doing well and already heads down :) We then had a bunch of errands to run and had an east coast shower with family and close friends in the evening (more on that in another post). It was such a fun weekend having my mom in town and we managed to get quite a bit done! Here are some pictures from the weekend.
 Flowers at the farmer's market
Really delicious apple and ricotta pancakes at brunch
Amazing burrata with roasted leaks
My mom and I made these centerpieces out of cabbage for Easter - I LOVE how they came out :)
 Cheese platter for apps
The best baked french toast (not pictured is the corn and scallion strata)
Brown sugar and honey glazed ham that is just to die for.
And I made this carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and decorative carrots. This cake is so easy to make and honestly SOOOOO good....we had to give half of it away otherwise Tyler and I would have single-handedly eaten it ourselves. To make the decorative carrots, I bought colored chocolate from Michael's and melted the chocolate. I put the melted chocolate in individual pastry bags with tips and then etched out the carrots on wax paper. I made the base of the carrot first with the orange and then made the stems with the green. And then stuck the piece of wax paper in the freezer for 30 mins to harden. Super easy!
